F5-HA Configuration (Active/Standby)

1. Create dedicated VLAN for HA

Network - VLANs - Create

Name :

Tag :

Un Tagged interface :

2. Create Dedicated Self IP address for HA Vlan

Network - Self IPs - New Self IP

Name : HA_IP

IP Address :

Netmask :

VLAN :

Port Lockdown: Allow Default

Traffic Group :traffic-group-local-only (non-floating)

3. Device Management - Devices - Select Self Device - Device Connectivity - Local Address : Select HA IP address - Update.

4. Device Management - Devices - Select Self Device - Device Connectivity - Failover - Add - Address : Select the HA IP address-Update

Note : Add MGMT IP address as well here as its a best practice.

5. Device Management -  Device Trust - Peer List - Add

Device IP Address : Remote device MGMT IP

Administrator Username:

Administrator Password:

Click on Retrieve Device Information

Finished

6. Device Management - Device Groups - Create

Name : 

Group Type : Sync-Failover

Members : Add both the LB

Network Failover : Enable

Automatic Sync : Enable

Finished

Optional:

Device Management - traffic Groups - Traffic-group-1

Auto Failback : Enabled

Failover Order : Move the Primary Device to Enabled List

Update 

With Auto Failback mode enabled, this traffic group will always return to the first device in the Enabled list when the device is available for traffic.
